Polycarbonate

Polycarbonate is a very widespread thermoplastic polymer and often used instead of glass, as it is cheaper.
It is a plastic material with good electrical and thermal insulation properties.
This thermoplastic polymer is also notable for being lightweight, withstanding heavy loads, resisting abrasion, steam and weather.
For all these reasons it is the suitable material for numerous uses in architecture, industry, but also in the sectors of events, fairs and visual communication. Different brands of polycarbonate available, including Exolon for eco-sustainable production.

Property

There are several reasons to choose polycarbonate and they are suggested by its characteristics. It is a light and long-lasting material, with electrical and thermal insulation properties, with good workability.
It supports heavy loads because it has a high resistance to breakage, unlike glass, but like the latter it guarantees high transparency and allows visual clarity. Resists abrasion, steam and weather.
It has a low weight and stands out for its good sound-absorbing quality. It can be bent both hot and cold and is suitable for thermoforming. It can be glued. We can define it as a material with excellent resilience and the ability to resist a wide temperature range from -100°C to +120°C, but poor chemical resistance. Polycarbonate can also be supplied in the self-extinguishing UL94 V0 quality and in the UV-resistant type.

Applications

Thanks to its peculiar characteristics, polycarbonate finds various applications in numerous sectors. It can be used in the form of protections for example for machinery, electrical panels, charging stations. It is also used for displays, signs, light displays, signs, dividers, signs and as street furniture. Other uses are for example in the form of protective visors for PPE or for electrical panels. It finds so much favor on the market because it has a lower ecological cost, but above all it offers an economic advantage compared to using glass.

Cold Bending

Cold bending is a technique used not only for polycarbonate, but also for other materials, which allows the sheet to be permanently deformed without the use of heat.
In this process, the material is positioned on special templates inside the press brake. Here a punch exerts controlled pressure on the polycarbonate, bending it into the desired shape. The advantage of this process is to obtain repeatable bends with high precision, without compromising the properties of the material.
To bend very thick materials and obtain radius bends, it is necessary to resort to hot bending. Our experience is not limited to bending, but also to the meticulous development of drawings, to ensure that the final product perfectly matches the customer's specifications.

Cutting

We offer a cut-to-size service on all polycarbonate sheet formats. We use the latest generation panel saws, which guarantee very high precision, and a cutter shear for thin slabs.
Thanks to the use of nesting we are able to optimize the use of slabs, avoiding waste of material.
