Production of Epoxy Vetronite

The production of this composite material occurs with the stratification of glass fabric impregnated with special epoxy resins which define its technical mechanical and insulation characteristics.
The use of fiberglass to make the base fabric makes it a derivative of glass, although it has no common characteristics. It is subsequently thermo-pressed at high temperatures, thus obtaining laminates with excellent mechanical properties, chemical resistance, tensile strength, compression and dimensional stability.
Epoxy fibreglass is also self-extinguishing and is an excellent dielectric insulator. The G10/FR4 and G11/FR5 materials are composed of epoxy resins, making them self-extinguishing insulators, but only the FR4 and FR5 laminates are UL 94-V0 rated. Vetronite FR5 is also halogen-free.

Applications

The mechanical applications vary based on the thickness, low or high, of the fiberglass and the type of material used.
Due to all its characteristics it is widely used in the electronic and electromechanical sector.
In detail, it is used for the production of washers, gaskets, tubes and sheets thanks to the flexural elasticity modulus. Finally, fastening elements such as screws, nuts and bolts can be made with epoxy fibreglass.

Vetronite G10 and FR4

Vetronite G10 and FR4 are materials available in laminate, composed of glass fabric and epoxy resin, as well as tubes and rods.
They have almost the same mechanical and insulation characteristics, among which stand out low water absorption, good chemical resistance, and excellent electrical insulation even in humid environments. As well as high tensile and compressive strength.
Furthermore, FR4 has UL 94-V0 self-extinguishing properties.
These types of fibreglass are widely used for the creation of semi-finished products, gaskets, insulators for press plates and in the printed circuit sector.

Vetronite G11 and FR5

Vetronite G11 and FR5 are materials available in the form of laminates, tubes and rods composed of glass fabric and epoxy resin, like the previous two.
Unlike the G10 and FR4 fibreglass, these maintain excellent mechanical characteristics even at high temperatures. Vetronite FR5 is also halogen-free.
The G11 is available in both temperature class F (155°C) and class H (180°C).
Due to the specific temperature class they are used in the production of motors, transformers and alternators.
It should be remembered that unlike G10 and G11, only the FR4 and FR5 laminates are UL 94-V0 self-extinguishing. For any information you can consult the technical data sheets of each material.

The custom-made slab cutting service is one of our strong points, a practical benefit for our customers.
With nesting software we are able to optimize the arrangement of the cuts on the slab, reducing material waste.
