This year we had the pleasure of being technical sponsors for Skyward Experimental Rocketry, the first association of the Politecnico di Milano that designs and launches sounding rockets.
For the third successive year, the team participated in the European Rocketry Challenge (EuRoC), a competition organized by the Portuguese Air Summit, presenting GEMINI, the association’s first rocket with a hybrid propulsion system.
For the realization of the project, we provided tubes made of bachelized paper, a phenolic resin composite material with good thermal insulation properties, which serve the function of protecting the aluminum case of the FURIA hybrid engine by resisting the extreme temperatures that develop during combustion.
Despite the unforeseen technical issues that occurred during the competition, which led the team to suspend the flight, Skyward won the Technical Award, which is the award that recognizes the best technical report, demonstrating the ability to clearly document the complex technical system designed by the team.
It is always a source of pride for us to support these entities, formed by young talents who, in addition to their teaching careers, devote themselves to ambitious projects such as this one, organizing themselves to tackle the most complex challenges together, demonstrating fantastic teamwork!
